On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, the police seized one firearm and ammunition during an operation in Lacy District, Lawrence Tavern.
According to a report from the Lawrence Tavern police, at about 6:30 a.m. on August 30, 2023, a joint police-military team stopped the driver of a white Honda Stream motor car.
The driver complied, and the law enforcement officers searched the vehicle. During the search, they allegedly found a nine-millimeter pistol with a magazine containing 12 rounds in a hidden compartment.
The police arrested one concerning the seizure of the firearm. The police withheld the suspect’s identity pending further investigation.
Fake cabbie accused of attempted rape, abduction arrested in St James
On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, detectives in St. James arrested a suspect after he allegedly posed as a taxi cab operator, abducted a female passenger, and attempted to rape her.
According to a police release, at about 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, the suspect, driving his fake taxi, picked up a female passenger near Melvin Hall Road in Montego Bay.
The suspect allegedly attempted to force himself on the female passenger, and she screamed for help.
A police patrol in the community responded swiftly to the scene and took the suspect into custody. And the female made a formal report.
After checking their database, the police discovered that the suspect was on bail for a similar incident.
The police are yet to formally charge the suspect. The investigation continues.
