Scotiabank dismissed reports its staff are being questioned by the police concerning the attack on a Beryllium team in Mandeville, Manchester, on Friday, August 25, 2023.

In a media release on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, the bank stated:
“The Police have not advised us of any such action involving our staff, and we have no reports of any of our staff getting questioned about the attack.”

It said Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey also stated their position.
Scotiabank requests a retraction and apology from media entities carrying the reports.
In the meantime, Scotiabank says as it seeks to manage the impact of the incident, its Mandeville branch was closed to the public on Monday to support the team. It was business as usual as of noon Tuesday, August 29, 2023.
“This is an ongoing investigation handled by the police. As is our standard in supporting law and order in all communities where we do business, Scotiabank will continue to work with the police to do all we can to assist in this investigation,” Scotiabank said.

Cop kills gunman during attempted robbery at Port Kaiser beach.
MANCHESTER, Jamaica— An off-duty Gum Shoes unfortunately shot and killed an unidentified man at Port Kaiser Beach in Allegator Pond, Manchester, during an alleged robbery on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.

The unidentified thug reportedly attempted to rob the copper who shot and killed him. According to reports, the cop removed a firearm from the deceased body.
According to preliminary media reports, at around 2:30 p.m., an off-duty police corporal chilled at the beach when the robber pounced upon him.
The thug reportedly brandished a handgun, pointed it at the cop, and demanded his bag. The Gum Shoes refused, and the thug opened fire. The cop took evasive action and returned the fire, hitting the robber.
The robber fell, and the cop recovered a Glock pistol from him.
The police transported the wounded man to the hospital, where he died.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched a probe into the incident.
Police arrested a Trelawny man after allegedly assaulting the complainant with a machete.
TRELAWNY, Jamaica – Police charged a Trelawny man following a Barber Shop brawl on August 15, 2023, during which he allegedly used a machete to slap another man.

The Falmouth Police charged Errol Chaplin, age 48, a farmer from Stettin, Trelawny, with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
According to the Police, at about 10:30 a.m. on August 15, 2023, the complainant was at a barber shop in the community when an argument started between him and Chaplin.
The dispute spiraled into a brawl, during which the accused used his machete and hit the complainant on the upper body, causing pain and suffering.
The complainant reported the incident to the police. The police launched an investigation, and Chaplin turned himself over to the police. The police charged him on August 28, 2023.
His court date is pending.
