The Spanish Town police slapped several charges on a St. Catherine male pedophile accused of raping a 12-year-old girl he met online multiple times between February and July 2023.
The police identified the suspect as Alex Belight, age 20, of an Old Harbor Road address. The police charged Belight with rape, grievous sexual assault, possession of child pornography intending to distribute, possession of child pornography, knowingly producing child pornography, and distribution of child pornography.
The police said Belight met the child while playing an online game. They exchanged contact details and then began communicating.
Belight reportedly lured the child to his home on Old Harbour Road several times, where he raped her.
Belight allegedly video-recorded one instance of the assault incidents and threatened to release the footage if the child did not return to his house.
Persons close to the child reported the matter to the police. The police launched an investigation, and they subsequently arrested and charged Belight.
His court date is pending.
Unknown assailants gunned down a St. Elizabeth hairdresser inside her home.
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – The St. Elizabeth police reported that persons unknown gunned down a woman at her home on Gayle Town Road in Goshen district, St. Elizabeth, Thursday night, August 31, 2023.
The police identified the deceased as Alecia Griffiths, age 38, a late Goshen community hairdresser.
According to reports, at about 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023, residents heard loud explosions from Griffiths’ home and alerted the police.
Upon arrival, residents directed the police to Griffiths’ house, but the door was locked. The police forced the door open, and they found Griffiths lying on her back in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds to her head and neck.
The police transported the victim to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced her dead.
The police did not establish a motive for the killing. The investigation is ongoing.
Westmoreland man who tried to hide identity info inside toilet, arrested.
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, detectives in Westmoreland put the cuffs on a suspect who allegedly attempted to conceal a cell phone containing the identities of persons living abroad in a toilet water tank in his home.
The police arrested and charged Curtis Clark, age 36, of Rocky Hole District, Burnt Savannah, in Westmoreland, with possession of identity information.
According to the reports from the Westmoreland Police, at about 5:30 p.m., law enforcement officers conducted a targeted operation at Clarke’s house. According to the police, they observed Clarke placing a cellular phone inside a toilet tank. The police retrieved the phone from the water tank, and an onsite analysis revealed identity information of persons living overseas.
The police subsequently arrested and charged Clarke.
His court date is pending.
