On Friday, August 18, 2023, police in St James captured a suspect regarded as Hanover’s most wanted shottas during an operation in the Marl Road section of Mount Carey in St James.
The police identified the suspect as Obrien Garvey, o/c ‘Isis,’ ‘F1,’ and ‘Rambo,’ age 27. The police wanted him for wounding with intent concerning a shooting incident in McCreary District, Hopewell, Hanover, in April 2023.
During the April incident, the suspect allegedly shot and injured a 6-year-old child, his mother, and his grandfather.
According to reporting, the suspect had eluded the police for months.
The investigation continues.
Jamaican cops and US Homeland Security agents arrested a woman in StJames for lottery scamming.
Law enforcement agents assigned to the United States Homeland Security Department have joined local law enforcement officers to crack down on illicit lottery scamming activities in Western Jamaica.
Their efforts thus far have led to arresting a 22-year-old woman for suspected breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions) Act during an operation in Bobman Hill, Rose Hall in St James.
The Police High Command, through its Corporate Communications Unit, said the officers seized US$15,700 after the suspect could account for how and where she got the money. The officers also confiscated a laptop and a cell phone while searching the suspect’s home. Both the computer and the cellular phone had evidence of lottery scamming activity.
