WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – Thugs shot and killed a bike Taxi operator in a drive-by attack in Whithorn, Westmoreland, on Friday, August 18, 2023.
Police identified the deceased as Damion’ Sicka’ Vassell, age 37, a late resident of Old Road, Whithorn, in Westmoreland.
According to reporting, at about 11:40 am, Vassell was sitting on his motorbike when a white Toyota Axio motorcar drove up, and the occupants opened gunfire on him, hitting several times in the upper part of his body.
The police rushed the victim to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.
The police recovered several 9mm spent casings at the crime scene.
The police did not establish a motive for the killing.
The Whithorn police are investigating.
Man found dead in car in Lakes Pen, suicide suspected.
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Citizens in the Lakes Pen Community in Spanish Town, St Catherine, brought a suspected case of suicide to the attention of the St South Police on Saturday, August 19, 2023, St Catherine, after they stumbled upon the body of a man inside a car along the Lakes Pen Roadway.
The police subsequently identified the deceased as Kirk Malabver, age 47, of a Portmore address.
According to reporting, curious citizens reportedly alerted the police after seeing a Honda CRV parked along the Lakes Pen Roadway near Wysinco at about 5:00 am, Saturdaycitizens in the Lakes Pen area saw a Honda CRV along the roadway in the vicinity of Wysinco at about 5:00 am on Saturday, August 19, 2023.
Upon the arrival of the law enforcement officers, they found the man’s body with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head.
The police also reportedly found a firearm and one spent casing on one of the seats inside the vehicle.
The Spanish Town police are investigating.
An 84-year-old man turned himself in and confessed to double murder in Hanover.
HANOVER, Jamaica – Detectives in Hanover made a breakthrough in the August 12, 2023, double murder of two older women in the parish when an 84-year-old man turned himself in to the police and reportedly admitted to committing the crimes.
The suspect is a farmer from Grange District in Hanover and the husband of one of the victims. He allegedly confessed to the crimes after eluding the police for days.
On August 12, 2023, at about 5:00 pm, relatives of retiree Patsy Allen found her unresponsive in her Kendal district home and alerted the Lucea Police. The police rushed her to the hospital, where she died.
Two hours later, a relative of 73-year-old Teka Anderson-Nesbeth, found her dead in her residence. She had been stabbed in the head. Nesbeth was Allen’s caregiver.
The villain reportedly fled the scene of both murders. But according to police, the 84-year-old suspect turned himself in to the Lucea police on Friday, August 18, 2023.
The police said the suspect confessed to murdering both after they read him his Miranda rights.
The police still need to schedule his court appearance date.
