Justice Minister wants allegations against DPP investigated.

According to reporting by Nationwide: “The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Grace Ann McFarlane, has asked the Public Services Commission to investigate the allegations made by Senior Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Kathy Ann Pyke, about the operations of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The extraordinary development follows a letter from Miss Pyke to Prime Minister Andrew Holness on July 28, 2023, decrying a possible second extension of the DPP’s Paula Llewellyn’s tenure in office.

The Senior Deputy Director has alleged a litany of failings over the 15-year tenure of Miss Llewellyn.

Hence, Justice Minister, Delroy Chuck, wants the matter investigated.

Miss Pyke had called for an investigation into the affairs of the Office of the DPP as well as an anonymous poll to be carried out among staff to gauge their perception of Ms. Llewellyn.”

The DPP has staunchly denied the allegations made by her Senior Deputy, describing Miss Pyke as a bitter employee with interpersonal challenges.

Still, the Government is on track to grant the DPP a second extension of her tenure later this month.
