A 39-year-old woman, who reportedly fled to Jamaica after learning US law enforcement authorities wanted her for several offenses, including murder, was arrested in St James on Friday, July 21, 2023.
The JCF Corporate Communications Unit confirmed that Jamaican law enforcement officers arrested Iyana Reynolds of Tortuga Crescent in Greenwood, St James, on Friday, July 21, 2023, on an extradition warrant during an operation fielded by the St James Police Department the JDF and the Jamaica Fugitive Apprehension Team.
According to reporting, the police conducted the operation between 4:00 am and 5:00 am at Reynolds’ home. The police said they arrested her without incident.
Reynolds’ extradition court hearing date is pending.
Man charged over St Andrew gun seizure
The police reported that they arrested and charged a Trelawny resident with breaches of the Fire Arms Act following the seizure of a prohibited weapon during a raid in St Andrew on Thursday, July 20, 2023.
The police identified the accused as Denroy Scarlett, age 28, a Refuge District, Trelawny resident. The police charged him with possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and alteration of the ballistic signature of a firearm.
The Constant Spring police reported that at about 9:15 am on Thursday, July 20, 2023, a police team cordoned off sections of Sunrise Drive and searched a two-bedroom dwelling occupied by Scarlett in his presence.
During the search, the police found a black Taurus 9mm pistol fitted with a magazine containing eleven 9mm cartridges in a knapsack.
The police took Scarlett into custody and subsequently charged him after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
Scarlett’s court appearance date is pending.
Police charged a Negril Businessman with assault and robbery.
Westmoreland police confirmed that they arrested and charged a businessman with assault and robbery after he and others allegedly roughed-up and robbed the complainant of $175,000 at his home in Negril, on Monday, July 17, 2023.
The police identified the accused as Sheldon ‘One Dan’ Harris, age 49, a businessman of Norman Boulevard in Negril, Westmoreland. The police charged Harris with robbery with violence, assault occasioning bodily harm, and possession of a prhibited weapon.
According to detectives from the Negril Police Department, at about 4:00 am, the complainant was at home when Harris and two other armed men attacked him and demanded money. And when the complainant refused, Harris and his cronies beat him.
The robbers then ransack the house and stole $175,000, and left.
The complainant reported the matter to the police. The police arrested Harris on Thursday, July 20, 2023.
The assailants reportedly demanded money and when their demands were not met, they proceeded to beat the complainant, ransack his room and steal $175,000.
The man reported the matter to the police and Harris was nabbed in an operation on Thursday. The police later laid charges against him. The police is actively searching for the other two suspects.
Harris’ court appearance date is pending.
