Hospitalized gunshot victim identified injured teen as the shooter in hospital.

ST MARY, Jamaica— The Annotto Bay police reported that they arrested a teen following Monday night’s shooting of a 39-year-old man in Dover, Annotto Bay, St Mary. 

According to media reports, the 17-year-old boy showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound, and the victim of the Dover shooting on Monday, July 17, 2023, pointed him out to the police as the shooter.

The police said, on Monday, July 17, 2023, at about 10:00 pm, a 39-year-old construction worker was at home when he heard a rumbling outside. He went to investigate, and the teen shot him in the neck.

The injured construction worker grabbed the gun, and a struggle developed. During the battle, a round accidentally discharged from the firearm.

The injured man ran and subsequently collapsed on the roadway. A good samaritan assisted him to the hospital, where authorities admitted him in serious condition. 

Meanwhile, the police arrived at the scene of the crime. While searching the area, the police found the teen in nearby bushes suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest.

The police rushed the teen to the same hospital the authorities admitted the construction worker. The construction worker would later identify the teen as the person who shot him in the neck.

The police theorized that the teen got shot while struggling with the injured construction worker.

The teen is currently in hospital under police guard.
