KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police arrested a man and a female passenger for breaches of the Firearms Act after they found a firearm and ammunition in the vehicle along Studio One Boulevard in Kingston on Sunday, June 25, 2023.
The police identified the accused as Delshawn McBean, age 31, a contractor of Blunt Street, Kingston, and a Barbican, Kingston 6 address, and Shantel Thomas, age 28, a Tower Street, Kingston cashier.
The police charged both persons with unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
According to detectives attached to the Denham Town Police, at about 11:00 pm, Sunday, June 25, 2023, McBean was driving a grey Mercedes Benz with Thomas as his passenger when a group of police officers at a vehicular checkpoint signaled McBean to stop, and he disobeyed and fled.
The police gave chase and intercepted the vehicle. The law enforcement officers searched both the driver and passenger and the car. And during the search, the cops found a Taurus 9MM pistol and a magazine loaded with twelve 9MM cartridges under the driver’s seat.
The police arrested and charged McBean and Thomas.
The police are yet to decide on a court date for the accused.
Cops investigate the abduction of a taxi driver in St Catherine.
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – The Linstead police are investigating a reported case of abduction of a taxi driver that occurred in Cheesefield district in Linstead, St Catherine, between Sunday night, June 25, and Monday morning, June 26, 2023.
According to reports, between 8:00 pm, Sunday, June 25, 2023, and 3:00 am, Monday, June 26, 2023, the cab driver was sleeping with his girlfriend when three masked men armed with knives entered the house through the back door.
The police said the men reportedly held up and robbed the couple of their properties. Then, they inflicted knife wounds on the taxi driver before removing his clothes.
The robbers then tied up the cabbie and placed him in the trunk of his white Toyota Probox.
Afterward, the men drove away in the vehicle. The police found the motorcar later abandoned on Goffe Road in Glengoffe, St. Catherine. They noted that they saw blood in the trunk of the car.
Police have launched a search for the victim and his abductors.
