ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – According to a police report, thieves held up and robbed two senior citizens of cash, jewelry, and a licensed firearm at their home in the Senior Town district in Junction, St Elizabeth, Saturday morning, June 24, 2023.
The police withheld the victims’ names but gave their ages as 70 and 76. The burglars surprised the elderly couple when they broke into the couple’s home as they slept.
The report stated that at about 1:50 am, Saturday morning, June 24, 2023, a strange sound awoke the seniors and they saw two men standing at their bedside. The men demanded money and jewelry.
The police said the senior citizens resisted, and the thieves tied them up and began to search the house.
The men stole a gold chain with a pendant, four gold bracelets, one gold necklace with a pendant, one of the victims’ licensed firearms, J$49,000, US$6, and two cellular phones.
The men then left the house. And the seniors summoned the police.
Upon arrival, the police discovered that the robbers accessed the house by cutting off the padlock on the veranda grille.
The Junction police are investigating.
