Gunmen invaded Runaway Bay, All-inclusive Hotel, and robbed two employees.

The Police High Command has initiated a top-level investigation after thugs invaded the FDR all-inclusive hotel in Runaway Bay, St Ann, on Friday morning, June 23, 2023, and robbed an employee of more than $100,000.
The gunmen reportedly fired at least two shots and attempted to rob two visitors. No one was hurt.

According to media reports, at about 1:52 am, Friday morning, June 23, 2023, five men, two armed with Uzi sub-machine guns and a pistol, forced their way onto the hotel compound by sliding under the main gate. The police said one of the gunmen held up the security guard and tied him up. And the other four went to the lobby, where they held up the night auditor and robbed her of J$19,000, US US US$700, and a cell phone.

Meanwhile, the gunmen intercepted two visitors who had entered the compound in a Suzuki SUV and demanded they hand over their belongings. The visitors resisted. One of the gunmen fired a shot into the ground. The robbers then fled the hotel’s compound on foot.

The hotel staff summoned the police. Law enforcement officers recovered one spent shell and one live round in the hotel lobby. The cops also found bullet fragments in the Suzuki SUV.

Police Commissioner Anthony Anderson ordered a high-level probe into the incident.

A Lone thug shot and killed a man at a party in Westmoreland.

WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — The Westmoreland police have confirmed that an unknown assailant shot and killed a male Westmorelander Thursday night, June 22, 2023, at a party in Broughton, Westmoreland.

The police identified the deceased as Odanie ‘Cruz’ Brooks, age 26. 

According to the Savanna-la-Mar police, at about 7:20 pm, Brooks was attending a party when a lone gunman approached him and opened fire. 

Patrons summoned the police to the scene. Upon arrival, the cops found Brooks suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body. The law enforcers rushed him to the hospital, where he died.

The police could not determine a motive for the shooting. 

Investigations into the killing are ongoing.
