The St James police are investigating the death of a man who was shot and killed along a section of the Porto Bello main road in the parish on Tuesday morning.
The police identified the deceased Omario Williams, o/c ‘Popsi,’ age 22, a laborer of Porto Bello.
According to the police, at about 9:25 am, on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, residents heard loud explosions like gunshots coming from a section of the Porto Bello main Road and alerted the police.
Upon arrival, the law enforcement officers found Williams’s body lying along the roadway with multiple wounds that appeared to be gunshots to his upper body.
The police rushed Williams to the hospital, where he died.
The police did not give a motive for the shooting.
Security guards arrested after gun seizure in St James.
The Montego Bay police reported that two security guards were taken into custody on Monday following the seizure of an illegal gun and a round of ammunition during a traffic stop in downtown Montego Bay.
According to the report, at about 1:00 pm, Monday, June 19, 2023, the police were conducting a random vehicular spot check in downtown Montego Bay when they stopped and searched a white Toyota Probox motor car.
During the search, the police found a Taurus pistol fitted with a magazine containing one .380 round inside the car.
The police arrested the male and female occupants of the car, who turned out to be security guards, in connection with the seizure. The police withheld the names pending further investigations.
A Judge remanded a St Catherine man charged with robbery of $496,000.
A Judge in the St Catherine Parish Court remanded a man accused of robbing another of $ 496,000 when he appeared before the parish court on June 20, 2023.
On Tuesday, June 20, 2023, a presiding Judge in the St Catherine Parish Court remanded Dwight Hall, a laborer residing in Buck Town, Spanish Town, whom the police charged with robbery with aggravation. The court set July 18, 2023, as William’s next court date appearance.
According to court documents, on May 24, 2023, the complainant conducted business in Spanish Town, where the accused attacked and robbed him of a knapsack containing $496,000.
The complaint made a report to the Spanish Town police, and following an investigation, Hall was arrested and later charged.
