On Friday afternoon, June 16, 2023, one Oberlin High School was stabbed in the back by another during a fight in the Lawrence Tavern Square, St Andrew.
According to the STAR, the incident happened at about 2:40 pm. Citizens whisked the injured boy to a nearby clinic, but the authorities referred him to the hospital.
Law enforcement officers from the Lawrence Tavern police station are searching for the culprit.
Friday’s stabbing of an Oberling High School student came in the wake of Thursday’s stabbing of a Cumberland High School student. That student is still in the hospital.
The police continue to investigate both incidents.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
Cumberland High suspended classes on Friday after Thursday’s attack on a student.
According to reports, authorities suspended classes at Cumberland High School in Portmore, St Catherine, on Friday, June 16, 2023, following the vicious attack on a grade 11 student on Thursday, June 15, 2023.
Media reports indicated the student was malled, chopped, and stabbed several times by a group of thugs from a nearby community after he tried to mediate a dispute between two other students.
Concerned citizens rushed the boy to the hospital, where the authorities admitted him in serious condition.
The unfortunate incident happened at about 2:30 pm on Thursday, June 15, 2023, during closing hours, and students were heading home.
The authorities sent students who turned up for classes on Friday home.
Gum Shoes from the St Catherine South Police Division are investigating the incident.
Persons of interest in the attack on Cumberland High School Student surrendered to police.
The Police High command has confirmed that the four persons of interest concerning the attack on a male student of Cumberland High School on Thursday, June 15, 2023, have turned themselves in.
According to the police, the four persons of interest are:
- A male known only as ‘Jamiel’ or ‘Ears’ from Power Lane.
- A male known as ‘EJ’ is also from Power Lane.
- Another male known as ‘OD’ from Hardware Lane and a man known as ‘Okra’ from Rosemary Lane.
