Gunman left weapon behind and scampered for his life after guard foiled robbery.

According to media reports, the police recovered an illegal firearm left behind by one of two men who attempted to rob a pump attendant at the Unipet Gas Station on Slipe Road in Kingston on Wednesday afternoon, June 14, 2023.

The preliminary report stated that at about 5:00 pm on Wednesday, June 14, two men on a motorcycle posing as customers seeking to purchase gasoline approached a pump attendant at the Unipet Petrol Station on Slipe Road, Kingston. The pillion pulled a firearm, and shoved it to the attendant’s side, and demanded that she hand over her property.

The pump attendant turned away from the gunman and raised an alarm.

A security guard on duty at the establishment opened fire in the direction of the robbers, and the gunman panicked and fell from the motorcycle and got separated from his firearm.

In fear for his life, the gunman fled the scene on foot, leaving his firearm behind.

The police arrived at the scene and retrieved a Smith and Wesson Spring Field firearm with 12 rounds of ammunition from the location.
