ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — According to the Leader of the St Elizabeth police, Superintendent Kenneth Chin, on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, law enforcement officers arrested a 27-year-old unnamed St Elizabeth man following the seizure of an illegal firearm during a traffic stop in the parish.

Chin said the police seized the firearm at about 1:00 pm, Tuesday, May 23, 2023, when a police team conducted a vehicle checkpoint operation on the Oxford main road searching for illegal firearms and wanted people.
According to Chin, during the operation, the police stopped and searched a white Toyota Corolla motorcar and found one 9mm pistol with a magazine containing eight rounds. As a result, the police arrested a 27-year-old male bar owner from Santa Cruz in connection with the find.
Chin thanked the teams for using the limited resources to maintain the operational outputs and reaping success. In addition, the parish is safer because of your effective police presence.
Superintendent Chin hastened to highlight the police-citizen relationship in the parish, which has resulted in several successes, including a 200 percent increase in the number of illegal firearms taken out of the hands of criminals compared to last year.
In the meantime, the bar owner remained nameless, and the police have not pressed charges yet.
