Gun charges pending against veteran dancehall artiste following gun seizure.

St Cathrine Gum Shoes reported that they had taken a veteran female dancehall entertainer into their custody concerning the seizure of a gun at her home in Portmore, St Catherine.

The artiste has been in custody since the recovery on Sunday, May 21, 2023

According to the police report, On Sunday, May 21, 2023, cops attached to St Catherine South division were on an operation in the Greater Portmore during which they had cause to search a house occupied by the unnamed artiste.

During the search, the police found a handgun hidden among clothing items.

The police took the female occupant into custody pending further investigation.

Many people are asking what further investigation the police need to do before they charge this woman for breaches under the New Firearms Act. A couple of days ago, they found a firearm in a house under similar circumstances and arrested and charged the occupants. And they did not withhold their names.

Police charged St Andrew accountant with robbery of a motorcycle.

On Tuesday, May 23,2023, the police charged a St Andrew accountant with robbery with aggravation committed earlier this month.

The police identified the accused as Kevone Reid, age 30-year-old, of the New Gardens district. 

According to the police, on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at about 5:00am, Reid was driving a motorcycle with a pillion who was armed with a firearm.

They reportedly approached a man and robbed him of his motorcycle.

The police say investigations led to the recovery of the man’s motorcycle and Reid’s arrest on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

The police later charged Reid. His court date is being finalized.

One dead, several injured in a three-vehicle collision in Rose Hall, St James

A three-vehicle collision along the Rose Hall Main Road in St James early Wednesday morning, May 24, 2023, left one person dead and several others injured.

The police did not ascertain the deceased’s identity. 

According to preliminary reports, the collision occurred shortly after 2:00 am, May 24, 2023, in the vicinity of the Half Moon Hotel and Sugar Mill Road.

A Toyota Noah minibus, a Toyota Mark X, and a Subaru motor car were involved in the crash.

All three vehicles were traveling toward Montego Bay.

Eyewitness reports indicated that the driver of the Toyota Noah lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road. And the driver of the Subaru swerved to avoid hitting the Toyota Noah, and that’s when the Toyota Mark X hit the vehicle.

One man died on the spot. And the injured persons were transported to the hospital by good samaritans.

The deceased was a passenger in the Toyota Noah.
