According to news reports, unknown assailants gunned down a man along a dirt road in Mount Salem, St James, on Monday, May 22, 2023.

The police said the unidentified deceased appeared to be in his late 40s. The body is of a dark complexion, slim built, about 6ft, 2ins tall, with a low cut hairstyle, clad in white merino and black shorts.

At about 5:30 pm on Monday, May 22, 2023, residents in the surrounding community reportedly heard loud explosions and summoned the police. 

Upon arrival, the police found the man’s body lying along the dirt road, which borders O’Conner Lane and Brunswick Lane, with multiple gunshot wounds.

The police rushed the injured man to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where hospital officials pronounced him dead.

Sections of the Mount Salem community are under a Zone of Special Operations and a curfew to help quell violence. Still, bodies are dropping like flies.

Besides, St James is one of three parishes under a state of public emergency.

CCTV footage helped to land a man behind bars in Trelawny

TRELAWNY, Jamaica – According to news reports, Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage aided the police in the arrest and charge of a 30-year-old man, who got recorded allegedly stealing several items from a bar on Bay Road in Wakefield, Trelawny, on Thursday, February 2, 2023.

The police identified the accused as Sheldon Lawrence of Moore Park, Adelphi, in St James.

According to the police, at about 10:30 pm, February 2, 2023, Lawrence and other perpetrators broke into the bar and stole several items. Among the items stolen were a 32″ television, a sound box, alcoholic beverages, and $ 20,000 in cash. The value of articles is valued at more than $200,000.

The complainant reported the break-in to the police. And after reviewing the CCTV footage, the police arrested Lawrence. 

Investigations are continuing as the police seek to arrest the other suspects involved.

Man shot and killed in Hanover.

According to preliminary reports, on Monday, May 22, 2023, a lone gunman shot and killed a man at a shop in Hanover. 

The police identified the deceased as 27-year-old Deveardo McCallum.

 According to the police, McCallum was at a shop in the Ramble community when he was attacked and shot.

 The attacker escaped in a waiting vehicle.

 The residents alerted the police. Upon arrival, the police assisted McCallum to the hospital, where he died.

The police charged a couple after a gun and ammo seizure in St Andrew. 

The police arrested and charged a man and a woman on Monday, May 22, concerning a gun and ammo seizure on Burke Lane in St Andrew.

The police charged 28-year-old Ricardo Gould, o/c ‘Ricky,’ and 37-year-old Tiffany Gould, otherwise called ‘Trudy,’ both of a Burke Lane address, d with possessing a prohibited weapon and ammunition.

The police still need to finalize their court date.

According to the Constant Spring police, at about 5:30 am, May 22, 2023, a team of law enforcement officers armed with a search warrant conducted a detailed search at the home of both accused.

While searching a room, the police found a clear plastic bag containing a Ruger .40 pistol with a magazine containing five .40 cartridges. 

The police took both accused into custody and charged them with firearm breaches.
