CLARENDON, Jamaica – The Clarendon police reported the man they killed in a shootout along River Road in Freetown, Clarendon, on Monday, May 8, 2023, was a deportee from the United Kingdom for illegal drugs.

The police identify the deceased man as Andre Brown, o/c ‘Short Boss,’ age 42, from Aviary Housing Scheme in Old Harbour, St Catherine. The police shot and killed him after he reportedly shot at law enforcement officers when they accosted him.
According to reports, INDECOM has launched a probe into the incident.
The police reported that at about 2:45 pm, Monday, May 8, 2023, the police acted on information that directed them to River Road, Clarendon, where they accosted Brown, and a group of men, at the back of a container shop.
The police said Brown allegedly pulled a firearm and began shooting at the law enforcement officers. The officers took evasive actions and returned gunfire in Brown’s direction.
Brown subsequently fell to the ground clutching a Bersa handgun with an erased serial number and loaded with a magazine containing three .38 cartridges.
The police assisted Brown to the May Pen Hospital, where authorities pronounced him dead.
The police confirmed that a search of the local crime database revealed law enforcement authorities in the UK deported Brown back to Jamaica on Sunday, September 27, 2008, after doing time for narcotics-related charges.
