A man whom the Clarendon police had named a person of interest has now been upgraded to wanted by the police.

The police identified him as Menelek Youngsam, o/c ‘One-and-Ready.’ The police said Youngsam’s last known addresses are Old Harbor Bay in St Cathrine and Sunset Crescent, Four Paths in Clarendon.

According to the police, Youngsam is wanted for several crimes committed across Clarendon. he is considered armed and dangerous and is a present threat to the police and residents in the parish.

The police suggested he turn himself in to the May Pen CIB or the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, the police are asking anyone with information about Youngsam’s whereabouts to contact the May Pen Police at 876-986-2208, the Police 119, Crime Stop at 311, or the nearest police station.

Double murder in Mount Salem, St James

According to the St James police, unknown thugs shot three men, two fatally, in Mount Salem, St James, on Monday afternoon, May 8, 2023.

The police have identified one of the deceased as Enel Downer, age 28. The police identified the other dead man only as ‘Buttie.’

The police report stated that at about 1:00 am, Monday, May 8, 2023, the three men were part of a group of people assembled at the intersection of Mount Salem Main Road and Crawford Street when men with handguns pounced upon them.

The armed thugs opened fire at the group, hitting three men multiple times and fleeing the scene.

Residents alerted the police, and the police rushed the three men to the hospital, where Downer and Buttie died. Hospital authorities admitted the other man for treatment.

Police seize illegal firearms and ammo in Westmoreland.

The police seized a prohibited weapon and several rounds of ammunition Monday morning, May 8, 2023, during a joint police/military operation in Whithorn, Westmoreland.

And the police confirmed that they had taken three people, including a teenager, into custody following the seizure of the weapon. 

The Westmoreland police stated that on Monday, May 8, 2023, between 5:00 am and 6:30 am, a team of law enforcement officers conducted targeted operations in Content District, Whithorn, Westmoreland. And while searching the premises, they seized one Smith and Wesson pistol with eighteen cartridges.

The police said they took three people into custody concerning the seizure, but they have withheld the identities pending further investigation. 

Man shot dead near a St John’s Primary School in Spanish Town.

According to the Spanish Town police, on Monday morning, May 8, 2023, an armed assailant shot and killed a man near the St. John’s Primary School in Spanish Town, St. Catherine.

The police identified the deceased as Garnett Powell, age 48 years old, a poultry farmer of Kitson Town, St. Catherine.

The police said at about 11:20 am, Mr. Powell was walking along the roadway near the St John’s Primary School when a vehicle with armed men aboard pulled up beside him.

And a man armed with a handgun exited the vehicle and opened fire at Powell. Powell ran, but the persistent thug chased, shot, and killed him.

The police have not established a motive for the killing. Investigations are ongoing.

Police probing shooting death of St. Ann man.

According to the St Ann police, they have launched an investigation into the shooting death of a man in Cave Valley, St Ann, on Monday, May 8, 2023.

They have identified the deceased as Evroy Wilson, o/c, ‘Mikey,’ age 38 years old, of Cave Valley, St Ann.

The police said at about 3:30 am, Monday morning, May 8, 2023, Mr. Wilson had just returned home from a party in the community when relatives heard loud explosions.

A relative went to enquire, and he found Wilson’s unresponsive body lying on the verandah.

 The relative raised the alarm and summoned the police.

Upon their arrival, the police found Wilson’s lifeless body lying face down in a pool of blood.
