Two British nationals held with cocaine in separate incidents at Sangster Airport.

ST JAMES, Jamaica – According to the police, on Saturday, May 6, 2023, the police arrested two British nationals in separate incidents at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James, after they found cocaine in their luggage.

The police identified the men, a 37-year-old construction director from Birmingham, England, and a 59-year-old retired staff nurse from West Bromwich, England. Both men were about to board separate flights to England. 

According to the police, at about 1:45 pm, the construction director checked in on a TUI flight bound for Birmingham, England. And during the routine search of his suitcase and a knapsack, customs agents found five parcels of a white powdery substance resembling cocaine in false compartments. The agents handed the substance over to the airport police.

The police said the substance weighs five kilograms or eleven pounds.

Details of the second incident were not available. The police are investigating.

Thieves broke into the Big Tree Mobile store and stole over $2.5 million items.

 ST ANDREW, Jamaica – According to preliminary reports, early Sunday morning, May 7, 2023, thieves broke into the Big Tree Mobile Store in Premier Plaza, Half Way Tree, St Andrew. The thieves stole several items, including cell phones valued at $2.5 million.

A troubled young woman identified as the manager told Observer Online that Hawkeye Security alerted her that the store was broken into Sunday morning. She said she got to the store at about 4:35 am and found the store ransacked. 

The woman said the robbers entered the store by smashing the glass door.

“The store was ransacked. They hit through the glass and damaged the stuff, stole many phones, and stole other devices,” the woman said.

St James police seized a firearm and ammunition in Mobay, and one man was in custody.

ST JAMES, Jamaica –On Sunday, May 7, 2023, a team of law enforcement officers assigned to the St James Police Division arrested a man concerning the seizure of a Ranger .38 revolver and two .38 cartridges during an operation on Creek Street, Montego Bay, St James. 

According to the Montego Bay police, at about 1:45 pm, on Sunday, May 7, 2023, law enforcement officers conducted an operation in the Creek Street community. And during the operation, they saw a man whose actions aroused suspicion. As a result, they accosted and searched the man. During the search, they found one Ranger revolver loaded with two .38 cartridges on the accused person.

The police arrested the accused, took him into custody, and withheld his name pending further investigation. 

Thugs shot four people, one fatally, at a bar in Hanover. 

According to Hanover police, on Sunday afternoon, May 7, 2023, armed thugs entered a bar in Hopewell, Hanover and opened fire, killing one person and injured three, including a young girl.

The preliminary report indecated that the incident occurred at a bar along Bamboo Drive.

According to eyewitness report, patrons were having a good time at the bar when armed thugs entered the establishment and opened fire.

The operator of the bar and two male patrons were as well as a young girl who was a passenger in a taxi parked near the bar. 

Unfortunately, the owner of the bar succumbed to her injuries. The other injured persons were taken to the hospital by the police.

The police have launched an investigation.
