Body of the missing boy found in a car in Westmoreland.

WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – According to the police, the 8-year-old boy reported missing on Friday, April 21, 2023, was found dead in a car in Burnt Savannah, Westmoreland, hours later.

The police identified the dead boy as Odane Hill.

The police theorized that the boy may have died due to suffocation.

According to the police report, the boy’s parent/guardian left him in the care of a family member on Thursday, April 20, 2023, when he went missing. 

Efforts to locate him proved futile. Finally, on Friday, April 21, 2023, at about 9:00 am, a family member reported him missing at the Morgan’s Bridge Police Station.

At about 4:32 pm, a mechanic in the community was at his home when he found the motionless body of Hill in the driver’s seat of a 1998 Grey Toyota Corolla motor car, which was there for repair.

The mechanic summoned the police. Upon arrival, the police examined the body. The police did not find any visible marks of violence. The police subsequently transported the body to the Savanna-La-Mar hospital.

According to reports, the deceased suffered from Global Developmental delay, a condition that causes a child to take longer to reach developmental milestones than other children his age.

Investigations are ongoing.
