A police force applicant from a corporate area address got busted after he showed up at a JCF recruitment drive with fake Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) results.
According to the police report, on March 7, 2023, Ridge Buckley attended an Area 5 recruitment drive and submitted two laminated certificates he claimed he obtained from the CXC office in 2019.
However, when the police recruitment center submitted the documents to the Overseas Examination Council for verification, the Council deemed the documents fake.
On April 18, 2023, Buckley pleaded guilty to uttering forged documents and conspiracy to defraud when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
According to reports, Buckley told the arresting officer that he paid $8,000 for one of the documents.
The presiding judge, Leighton Morris, ordered a social inquiry report to assist with sentencing. The judge adjourned the case until June 18, 2023.
An armed robber was shot and injured by an off-duty soldier.
An off-duty soldier aborted a robbery at a Montego Bay supermarket and shot and injured the would-be-robber.
At about 8:40 pm, Tuesday, April 18, 2023, an armed thug entered the Tigers supermarket along St James Street, Montego Bay, and held the owner at gunpoint.
An armed off-duty soldier challenged the robber and shot and injured him during an exchange of gunfire.
The business owner alerted the police. Upon arrival, they found the robber suffering from gunshot wounds and seized one illegal firearm.
The police transported the wounded man to the hospital, where the authorities admitted him under police guard.
