Thugs shot and killed one man and injured another along Windward Road.

KINGSTON, Jamaica— The Kingston Eastern police have reported that unknown thugs shot and killed, and injured one man along Windward Road in East Kingston on Friday, March 17, 2023.

The identity of the deceased is not yet determined. But the police said he is of dark complexion, slim, five feet 10 inches tall, and wears a beard. He was clothed in a blue T-shirt, grey jeans, black socks, and one foot of a blue and white puma sneaker.

According to the Elleston Road police, at about 2:15 am, on Friday, March 17, 2023, residents in the community heard loud explosions and summoned the police.

Upon arrival, the police found the men suffering from gunshot wounds. The police assisted the men to the hospital, where a doctor pronounced the unidentified man dead, and the other man was admitted in serious condition.

The police are appealing to anyone who can assist in identifying the deceased’s body to contact the Elleston Road Police at 876-928-4200, the 119, or the nearest police station.

One man was stabbed to death during a fight in Highgate, St Mary; the alleged attacker is in custody.

The Highgate police took a man into custody after allegedly stabbing and killing another man Thursday morning, March 16, 2023.

The police have identified the dead man as Gary Graham, a laborer from Highgate.

According to the Highgate police, Graham and another man were involved in an altercation on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. The police intervened and de-escalated the situation. 

Nevertheless, on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at about 8:00 am, the two men were at it again-this time. They were involved in a physical fight during which the accused used a knife and allegedly stabbed Graham. 

Graham would collapse and fall face down. A doctor present at the crime scene pronounced him dead.

The accused is in custody and is expected to get charged soon.

Former permanent secretary, in the ministery of education and three others under MOCA, FID investigation

On Friday morning, March 17, 2023, MOCA and Financial Investigations Division (FID) conducted a series of search and seizure operations at nine different premises in three parishes, one of which is occupied by the former permanent secretary in the Ministry of Education, Grace McLean.

According to the authorities

“The investigation stemmed from an Auditor General report on the Ministry of Education some time ago,” MOCA’s Director of Communication Major Basil Jarrett told OBSERVER ONLINE.
“We seized several devices, including cellphones and laptops, and documents relating to that investigation which will be taken in for processing by our cyber and forensic experts,” Major Jarrett added.

According to Major Jarrett, the operations occurred at nine locations — five in the Corporate Area, one in Westmoreland, and three in St James.

There are three other individuals under investigation in this operation.
