The Jamaican Government grant license to import cannabis from Canada.

The Jamaican Government encourages its citizens to consume what they have grown and simultaneously grant license to import cannabis from Canada. The Bible says to do what they say but don’t do what they do; for they do not practice what they preached.

Jamaican Cannabis

Responding to backlash concerning the importation of cannabis, the Minister of Industry, Investment, and Commerce, Senator Aubyn Hill, tried to absolve himself when he said the license to import cannabis into Jamaica from Canada was granted to a local company by the Cannabis Licensing Authority.

Of course, nobody expects to hear anything less from the Minister. My late grandmother used to say, “Anytime you have to explain an action after the fact, you are up to no good.” Everybody knows the Andrew Holness Government micro-manages everything. So, if the Prime Minister and Senator Hill hadn’t given the green light, the un-named company could not have gotten a license to import cannabis into Jamaica. It’s a shame to import cannabis when Jamaica has more cannabis than water.

Senator Hill says the local importer is seeking to test the viability of the Canadian cannabis strains in Jamaica.

But Opposition Spokesman on Industry, Anthony Hylton, has vehemently opposed the decision. And I am sure the Jamaican people agreed. He says several attempts to export Jamaican-grown cannabis products to the Canadian market legally have been met with strong opposition.

But, according to Minister Hill, local cannabis is being exported to Canada, but not in large quantities.

Senator Aubyn Hill, Minister of Industry, Investment, and Commerce, spoke on Nationwide@5 Thursday evening, March 2, 2023, with Rodney Campbell and Tyrone Reid.

The Minister can say whatever he wants. The Jamaican people are not stupid. The fact that the Government kept the Jamaican people in the dark before the CLA granted the license says the deal is not in the interest of the Jamaican people, especially when the Government is encouraging people to consume what they grow.
