Popular blogger and social commentator Nigel Walford met his demise Friday, March 3, 2023, in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
Another man who was with him is nursing gunshot wounds at the hospital. The police confirmed the shooting occurred in Red Pond.
According to preliminary reports, unknown assailants pounced upon both men shortly after 11:00 am. and opened fire, hitting both men.
Walford 32 goes by the social media handle Meech. He was a regular on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. He is a past student of Campion College. He also created and moderated the popular Instagram channel AugustTown876.
Brave Off-duty soldier apprehended and disarmed gunman.
On Thursday, March 3, 2023, an off-duty Jamaica Defence Force soldier apprehended and disarmed a suspect of a firearm on Darby Terrace, Sandy Bay, Clarendon.
According to the May Pen Police, at about 8:30 Thursday evening, March 3, 2023, the police received information that a man was walking around in the area brandishing a firearm.
Upon arrival, the team saw a crowd. A JDF corporal identified himself, briefed the team, and handed over a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol with a magazine containing ten cartridges and the suspect.
The police took the suspect into custody pending further investigation.
Clarendon detectives and the Commanding Officer for the parish, Superintendent Carlos, applauded the soldier for his bravery.
Hanover Taxi Driver Killed in Shooting Incident
Yesterday morning, February 2, 2023, a 36-year-old taxi driver was shot and killed in his car along Sandy Bay main road in the parish of Hanover.
He was identified as Adrian Grizzle o/c ‘Nishy’ from Mount Pelier in the parish.
According to reports, at around 11:50 am, Grizzle parked his white Nissan motor car along the Sandy Bay main road when another car drove up and hit the back bumper of his vehicle.
Grizzle reportedly exited his car to investigate the damage when occupants of the other vehicle opened fire.
The police are investigating.
