JDF soldier shot and killed while moonlighting as a taxi operator.

A Jamaica Defence Force soldier moonlighting as a taxi operator was shot and killed by unknown assailants in the Papine area of St Andrew at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2023.

According to a verified police report, the deceased soldier, who lives in Spanish Town, St Catherine, was driving his motor car with passengers along Rocky Road in Papine when he got shot in the back of the head.

Head of the St Andrew Central Police Division, Senior Superintendent Marlon Nesbeth, confirmed the incident and said an investigation has already commenced to seek and find the perpetrators.  

According to the SSP,

“About 9:30 p.m., the soldier was driving a motorcar somewhere called Rocky Road between Utech and the National Water Commission system when he was shot. We suspect someone within the car, as several persons were with him. They made their escape, but we are still putting the pieces together now,” Nesbeth said.
