ST JAMES, Jamaica- A law enforcement officer was shot and injured by a lone gunman Saturday Night February 18, 2023, during a targeted operation along Barnett.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred at about 10 pm as the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Quick Response Team patrolled the area.
The police reported that the law enforcement officers saw a man they thought was acting suspiciously. As the police got closer to the man, he allegedly pulled a firearm from his waistband and opened fire-hitting the constable in the upper body. The police returned the fire, but the man escaped on foot.
Further, the report indicated that the police accosted the suspect in the shooting after he turned up at a hospital in a neighboring parish.
