The men Among 27 men, the police named Persons of Interest. Lester and Andrew Coke were released on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, after they underwent a battery of questioning over two days by the Kingston Western police.
The men had been in custody for less than a week. Both men turned themselves in last week Tuesday and Thursday.
The police said the two were among several others division detectives identified as persons whom they believe would assist them in bringing closure to ongoing investigations into crimes committed in the division.
The police reiterated that the investigations would continue.
Hence, the police are asking the remaining men, named Persons of Interest, to report to the Denham Town Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB), as several attempts to contact them have failed.
It is not surprising that the police released the two men back into the community. Everybody knew the whole exercise was a sham. The police have enough evidence to charge the two men under the antigang act. But, of course, nobody will show up in court to give evidence. But under the new antigang act, the police only need to prove that the men are connected to a particular gang.
Situations like this tell us that the PM is not the least serious about fighting crime. He talks a big talk, but when it comes to taking decisive actions, he is MIA.
