18-year-old teen whom police held with a loaded pistol has been granted bail.

An eighteen-year-old St Andrew teen the police caught with a loaded firearm has been granted bail for $150,000. At the time of his arrest, the teen told the police that the gun belonged to a recording artist.

On October 2, 2022, at about 6:30 am, the police responded to a call along Red Hills Road in St Andrew when they observed 18-year-old Trevaughn Whitfield acting suspiciously. The police subsequently accosted and searched Whitfield. And a Smith & Wesson pistol loaded with five rounds of ammunition was found on his person.

The teen told the police at the time of his arrest that Lougie Hamilton, an entertainer, had sent him to fetch the weapon from the glove compartment of his vehicle. But Hamilton refused to take the gun when he saw the police advancing.

The police arrested and charged the teen and 31-year-old Hamilton, an entertainer, with illegally possessing firearms and ammunition. Hamilton resides in St Ann. has reportedly claimed ownership of the weapon.

The case came up for hearing on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court. And in her bail application, the attorney for Whitfield, Kerry-Ann, Duhaney, submitted that her client was deceived by an adult who breached his trust when he sent the teen to fetch the gun.

The judge offered the teen bail at $150,000 with the condition that he report to the Duhaney Park police Station every Wednesday. Hamilton was granted bail for a medical reason.

Both accused are due back in court on February 1, 2023.
