A police constable was shot and wounded in a confrontation with a lone gunman in Spanish Town Friday night, November 11, 2022. Then the wounded gunman checked in at the same hospital the lawman was being treated.
The police high command reported that on Friday, November 11, 2022, at about 9:00 pm, two policemen were traveling in a motorcar north along the Old Habour Road, Spanish Town, St Catherine. The motorcar driver was stopped at the Inswood traffic light when an armed man alighted from a white coaster minibus and opened fire at the law enforcement officers. The law enforcement officers returned fire, and the gunman fled on foot.
After the shooting, the constable realized he got shot in the leg. He was subsequently taken to the Spanish Town Hospital for treatment. However, while the Lawman was getting treatment at the hospital, a man turned up at the complex suffering from gunshot wounds to his hand and abdomen.
The police identified the wounded man as the suspect who had attacked them earlier. The injured man is now in police custody in the hospital.
The policeman’s wound is not life-threatening.
