Trending in Jamaica News: Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett has expressed heartfelt sadness at the tragic death and critical injuries to staff members at the Oyster Bay Resort in Trelawny following a two-vehicle crash along the borderline of St Ann and Trelawny on Saturday morning, November 12, 2022.
The deceased are identified as Reece Thomas and Mikel Thompson, employed in the housekeeping department.
Nine other employees are said to be hospitalized.

Details relating to the cause of the tragic accident are still developing. But it seems reasonable to assume speed played a significant role, as it has time and again.
Mr. Bartlett said:
“I am distraught that we have yet another fatal accident on our roads, adding to the record number already recorded for the year. I am further saddened that the victims are vital members of the tourism industry who would otherwise be making a sterling contribution to the sector.”
The Minister then expressed his sincerest condolences and sympathies to the families of the deceased staff members and friends. And he hopes the injured, none of whom are critical, will recover without further complications and be whole again. Finally, he recognized each person’s struggle to overcome the trauma.
