Trending in Jamaica News, the heartless and despicable convicted murderer, Neville Lewis, who showed no mercy when he mauled and beheaded Burnett Thomas in 2012, is asking The Appeal Court to show compassion and reduce the time he must serve before he is eligible for parole.
Lewis beheaded Thomas after he chopped and stabbed him multiple times. Then he set fire to his body after allegedly accusing Thomas of infecting him with HIV/AIDS. Today he will attempt to convince the Court of Appeal to show mercy and shorten the 20 years he must serve as part of his life sentence before parole.
Lewis, who is serving life, pleaded guilty to murder in May 2014 in the St Ann’s Bay Circuit Court. But at the of the sentence, the Judge stipulated a pre-parole of 20 years. The brute later rejected the ruling and filed an appeal.
The grounds on which the challenge was initiated are that the trial judge failed to adequately communicate how he arrived at the sentence. And whether he followed the relevant principle in sentencing the appellant.
Attorney-at-law Kemoy McEkron will be arguing the case on behalf of the appellant’s in the hearing, which is scheduled to get underway today
