Gunfire erupted in two communities, Trenton, New Jersey, and Chicago, less than 15 minutes apart on Sunday morning. The attacks left three people dead and 23 others injured as police in both cities search for answers, according to news reports. Trenton police responded to reports of multiple gunshots in a neighborhood near 194 Locust Street at approximately 12:25 a.m. on Sunday, according to a statement from Trenton Mayor W. Reed Gusciora. Officials reported that 12 minutes earlier, hundreds of miles away, police in Chicago responded to another mass shooting incident. Chicago police stated that officers were dispersing a large gathering on the South Side at approximately 11:37 p.m. local time on Saturday night when gunmen opened fire into the crowd, injuring 15 people.
