On Wednesday, a judge at the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court approved a police application to remand content creator Jaii Frais and music producer Jahvel “Jahvy” Morrison in custody. The police placed the two men into custody following a shooting that occurred on Sunday during Big Wall’s post-carnival party.

Jaii Frais, whose birth name is Jhaedee Richards, is represented by attorney Isat Buchanan, while Peter Champagnie, KC, represents Morrison.

Investigators stated that the inquiry into the shooting is ongoing, and the suspects will undergo further questioning.

According to the law, the police can detain someone without charges for up to 48 hours. Additionally, they may seek a court order to extend the detention period.

Furthermore, a person in custody can apply to the court, through their lawyer, for an order to compel the police to either charge them or release them.

So far, the police have yet to charge anyone concerning the shooting.

The incident occurred on Sunday night at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Center in St Andrew during the Big Wall party. Three people received gunshot wounds.

According to the police, a physical altercation broke out among patrons at the event around 9:30 p.m. The dispute escalated, resulting in a gunfire exchange between Jaii Frais and Jahvy.

Jaii Frais And Jahvy sustained injuries during the shooting

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) reported that three individuals sustained gunshot wounds during the shooting, including Jaii Frais and Jahvy, who were involved in the altercation.

Law enforcement took the injured men to the hospital for treatment, where they were admitted under police guard. Police stated that one of the injured was later treated and released into custody, while the other two remain hospitalized.

Further, the police reported that they seized two firearms in connection with the incident.

Another man has since been taken into custody, but law enforcement withheld his identity pending further investigations.

The investigation is being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Branch of Half-Way Tree.
