Jamaica Police Shooting: Woman Killed at Old Shoe Market. Police reportedly fatally shot a woman inside the Old Shoe Market in Montego Bay on Wednesday morning, December 25.

The authorities have yet to identify the deceased, but preliminary reports suggest that she was chasing another woman with a knife when the police intervened.

The Jamaica Police Shooting reportedly unfolded at about 7:00 AM and attracted a crowd of onlookers.

Reportedly, Some individuals at the scene were visibly upset, and crying. At the same time, others questioned whether the police should have resorted to another method.

Law enforcement rushed the victim to the hospital. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries.

Jamaica Police Shooting: Woman Killed at Old Shoe Market. This shooting follows another deadly police shooting on Tuesday morning. The police cut down three men in an alleged police shoot-out in Orange District, Montego Bay.

In that shooting, the police said they had gone to the community in search of a person of interest linked to the recent rise in violence in the Rose Heights community when the confrontation occurred.

The police claimed they were fired upon and returned fire, resulting in three men being fatally struck. Three firearms were also recovered from the scene.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched an investigation into this incident.

In a release, they noted that so far this year, 183 individuals have been shot and killed by security forces, including 15 in December alone.

Among the prohibited items cited by police are firearms, explosives, knives, large igloos, glass bottles, large umbrellas, and scissors.

In the meantime, the public is also advised that no parking will be allowed at the National Stadium.

The police said a one-way system will be strictly enforced.

Motorists traveling along Mountain View Avenue and Arthur Wint Drive should anticipate disruptions in normal traffic flow before, during, and after the event, and plan their journeys accordingly.

Shuttle parks have been established at Heroes Park, 8 West King’s House Road, and Jamaica College.

The police have stated that if the public adheres to the guidelines, they can guarantee a safe and enjoyable event for everyone. Traffic personnel will be stationed along the roadways, and the public is encouraged to follow their instructions.
