Police Probe Double Murder: INDECOM Probes police shooting. Police launched a probe after two people were fatally shot and another injured during a gun attack. The senseless shooting attack occurred along Barbican Road, St Andrew, on Thursday.

According to reports, the gang-related shooting unfolded at about 1:00 p.m. near a shop in the Andrews Pen community.

Reportedly, armed men approached a female and two men and opened gunfire, hitting all three persons.

One man died at the scene. The woman who the hospital official admitted in critical condition succumbed to her injuries. The other man remains in the hospital in stable condition.

The authorities identified the deceased woman as Ashley Makerre. The gunmen reportedly attacked her at the same shop where her son was gunned down about one week ago.

According to unconfirmed reports, Makerre was hoping to bury her son on Sunday, December 10, 2024.

Early findings in the police probe indicated that the shooting was part of an escalating cycle of reprisal and counter-reprisal violence plaguing the area.

Law enforcement officials have imposed a 48-hour curfew in Andrews Pen starting on Thursday at 6 p.m. to quell further violence.

The St Andrew North Criminal Investigations Branch is probing the deadly shooting.

Dead is Vernon Campbell, 48. The police shot and killed him during an alleged confrontation Wednesday night.

Although residents chose not to speak on the record, many expressed their dissatisfaction, with some describing the police action as “wicked.”

An official police report, indicated that a joint military-police team was patrolling Bobby Lane. At around 9:30 p.m. they encountered Campbell among a group of men acting suspiciously. 

Officers reportedly approached the group, and during a reported tussle, Campbell allegedly pulled a gun and fired at the security forces.

The authorities have launched a local police probe into the fatal shooting

The officers returned fire, hitting Campbell. Law enforcement rushed Campbell to the hospital, where he succumbed while undergoing treatment.

As tensions escalate, the authorities deployed a significant police presence the community to clear the roadblocks and restore order.

The Independent Commission of Investigations is probing the shooting. Law enforcement authorities have also launched a police probe in the matter
