Warmington’s Racial Attack on Golding Sparked Outrage. Everald Warmington’s disgraceful racially charged attack on Mark Golding has ignited outrage throughout Jamaican society. Regardless of their political affiliations, reasonable individuals agree that Warmington’s venomous narrative and insinuations are unacceptable in Jamaican discourse. Moreover, the MP appears to have crafted his hate-filled tirade specifically to incite conflict.

The Private Sector Organization of Jamaica (PSOJ) quickly condemned Warmington’s racial attack on Golding. It calls the racially charged attack on the Opposition Leader “divisive politics that harken back to the nation’s darkest days.”

During a recent political meeting in a JLP stronghold at the Tivoli Gardens High School in Western Kingston, Everald Warmington’s racial attack on Mark Golding appears to incite conflict.

Everald Warmington attacked Opposition Leader Mark Golding

Referring to Mark Golding, Warmington declared that he would rather die than be led by a white man.

Furthermore, he suggested that the Opposition leader seek office in Britain, where he believes he would be more suitable.

In its statement, the PSOJ says Warmington’s inflammatory remarks, delivered at an educational institution, represent a dangerous and deliberate attempt to inject racial division into Jamaica’s political discourse.

The PSOJ said Warmington’s statements were particularly alarming. Because they seemingly threatened to resurrect one of the darkest chapters in Jamaica’s political history during Warmington’s racial attack on Golding.

“The PSOJ must emphasize that such rhetoric eerily echoes the divisive political discourse in Jamaica’s past, marked by deep social upheaval, economic instability, and tragic political violence. We cannot and must not allow our nation to be dragged backward into an era where political differences were inflamed by racial and class divisions, resulting in profound national trauma that took generations to “heal,” it added.

Additionally, the PSOJ rightfully renewed its call for Warmington to be held accountable for his unbecoming parliamentarian conduct.

The PSOJ said it especially condemns Warmington’s statements because he made them at the Tivoli Gardens High School. It said educational institutions are where young minds are nurtured. Therefore, the corrosive effect of such rhetoric on our youth cannot be understated.

Further, the PSOJ said the incident poses a serious risk of normalizing discriminatory speech among future generations due to Warmington’s racial attack on Golding. They deserve exemplary leadership from their elected officials rather than displays of divisive politics that harken back to the nation’s darkest days.”

The PSOJ says the Office of the Political Ombudsman, now operating within the Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ), should urgently intervene.
