Cops Charged Mandela Highway Robber and Murder Suspect. On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, cops in St. Catherine, Jamaica, charged a suspect with the alleged robbery and fatal shooting that occurred along the St. Catherine section of the Mandela Highway on June 11. Authorities identified the suspect as Nicholas Bhalai, o/c, 'Coolie Bap,' 24, a laborer of Ferry, district, in St Catherine, Jamaica.

KINGSTON, Jamaica: The police said a lone gunman shot and killed a former Tivoli Gardens don Monday night. The authorities said the tragic incident occurred at a car park at the corner of West and Tower Streets in downtown Kingston.

The authorities identified the dead man as Kirk Orlando Francis, o/c ‘Judas,’ 55, a higgler from Whitney Drive in Washington Drive, St Andrew.

The police report detailed the sudden and brutal nature of the attack. At approximately 7:20 p.m., as Francis was about to enter his blue 2014 Honda Civic, the assailant struck, firing multiple shots at him.

The gunman reportedly fled the scene on a motorcycle.

Relatives rushed Francis to the hospital, but it was too late. The medical staff pronounced him dead.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Francis, known as ‘Judas,’ was once a beloved figure in Tivoli Gardens and a well-known member of the West Kingston community.

As of now, the police have not proven a clear motive for the shooting, adding to the mystery of the incident.

Teen from Montego Bay Charged with Rape and Assault in St. James.

ST. JAMES, Jamaica: Detectives charged a seventeen-year-old boy after he allegedly broke into a woman’s house and assaulted her.

The boy, whose identity the police withheld, is from Montego Bay. The police charged him with rape and grievous sexual assault.

The police stated that at about 3:30 p.m. on Aug 5, 2024, the woman was in her bathroom when the teen reportedly gained entry and sexually assaulted her.

Then, he reportedly threatened to burn the woman’s house if she told anybody about the incident.

The next day, the teenager attempted to assault the woman again, but a passerby intervened, the police said.

The complainant reported the matter to the police, and the police initiated an investigation, which led them to arrest and charge the teen.

The teen’s court appearance date is pending.

Detectives assigned to the St. Andrew Central PD reported indicting the two alleged robbers the police captured along Old Hope Road in St Andrew on August 9.

The authorities identified the accused as Alex Bailey, 22, a mechanic of Glasspole Avenue, Kingston 2, and Oshane Wood, 19, a mechanic from Lacoose Road, Kingston 2.

The police charged both men with robbery with aggravation.

The allegation stated that the complainant was riding his bicycle along Old Hope Road at about 2:30 a.m., on Aug 9, 2024. Upon reaching a section of the roadway, the accused men, traveling on a motorcycle, intercepted him.

Then Wood, who was the pillion rider, reportedly held the complainant at knifepoint and robbed him of his belongings.

The complainant raised the alarm, and the nearby police responded and apprehended the culprits.

The police formally charged the men on Monday, Aug 19, 2024. Their court date is pending.

Detectives assigned to the Portland Police Division formally charged eight accused in the Bamboo Tree Lane murder in Fairy Hill district in Portland on Aug 7, 2024.

The police say the charges follow weeks of intense investigation.

The police said they charged three of the eight accused with murder. Their names are:

Shane Phillips, o/c ‘Taliban,’ age 31; Dominique Perkins, otherwise called ‘Kentay,’ age 19, and 18-year-old Raheem Dixon, also known as ‘Squidly.’

Meanwhile, the authorities charged the other five accused, including a teen, with conspiracy to murder.

Their names are:

  • Xavier Carty, 30, a taxi operator.
  • 21-year-old landscaper Chad Hylton.
  • 19-year-old block maker Fabian McIntosh.
  • 19-year-old Cavan Jacobs.
  • A 17-year-old boy from a Mannings Hill Road address, Kingston 8.

According to the allegations, at about 11:45 a.m., on Aug 7, 2024, Orlando Louden, 50, was at his home. Two men armed with handguns entered the premises and shot him several times before fleeing.

Concerned citizens summoned the police. The police responded swiftly and intercepted three vehicles along the Passley main road in the parish.

The authorities launched an investigation and detained the occupants of the vehicles. The police also searched the vehicles.

During the search, the officers reportedly seized two firearms.

After further investigations and a detailed search of the vehicles, the authorities formally charged the men with murder and conspiracy.

Their court appearance dates are pending.
