Fatal Shooting in Seaforth, St. Thomas, Jamaica
On Saturday, July 6, 2024, a resident of Seaforth was fatally shot by the police during an alleged confrontation. The deceased was identified as 26-year-old Franco Alex Campbell from Seaforth Capture Land, St. Thomas.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. while an undercover police team was carrying out operations in the community to address issues related to drugs, firearms, and wanted individuals. The encounter with Campbell resulted in him allegedly firing at the police, prompting them to return fire, resulting in his fatal injury.
Following the shooting, the police reportedly seized a 9mm pistol with a magazine containing six live cartridges from the scene. The body of Campbell was taken to the hospital for a postmortem examination.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has initiated a probe into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.

PORTMORE, ST. CATHERINE, JAMAICA– Police are currently conducting an investigation into the fatal shooting of a 51-year-old man at his residence on Saturday, July 6, 2024, on Rosemarie Lane in Naggo Head.

The individual, known as Luke Young or ‘Screw,’ was discovered by residents inside his home with multiple gunshot wounds after the sound of gunshots was heard around 1:00 a.m.
After the report, law enforcement officials promptly arrived at the scene and transported the body to the Spanish Town Hospital. As of now, the motive behind the shooting remains undetermined.
The Bridgeport Criminal Investigation Branch has taken on the responsibility of investigating this tragic incident.
Hanover residents disarmed a gunman during a melee.
Three individuals are currently evading authorities after being disarmed by members of the community in Mount Peace, Lucea, Hanover last Saturday.
Reports indicate that around 10 a.m., the trio allegedly confronted an individual with whom they had a previous altercation. One of the men reportedly brandished a firearm, making threats against the victim’s life.

A physical altercation ensued, during which concerned citizens intervened, successfully disarming the individual in possession of the firearm. Subsequently, fearing for their safety, the three individuals fled the location on foot.
Later, the residents reported the incident to the police and handed over the firearm to law enforcement officials. The Hanover police are actively conducting a search for the suspect.
Serious Double Score: Two Firearms Seized Back-to-Back at Farmer’s Residence.
In a successful follow-up operation, the St Andrew North police confiscated a Taurus pistol, two magazines, and 26 rounds of ammunition in the Lower Happy Grove area of Red Hills, St Andrew, on Saturday, July 6, 2024.
The seizure took place a day after the police apprehended a farmer and reportedly discovered an M16 rifle, along with 13 cartridges, on his property in the community.
According to reports, the police had searched the farmer’s premises on Friday, July 5, 2024, during an operation, and allegedly seized an M16 rifle with a magazine containing thirteen 5.56 cartridges found on the property.
Subsequently, the police detained the suspect.
On Saturday, July 6, 2024, the police revisited the same property, where they conducted a second search and reportedly unearthed the Taurus pistol, along with the magazines and rounds of ammunition, concealed under an old dresser within the residence in Lower Happy Grove in Red Hills.
Investigations are ongoing into the seizures by the police.
