KINGSTON, Jamaica – Detectives attached to the Half Way Tree Police Station indicted a St Andrew man accused of attempting to murder and rape a woman with whom he had a previous relationship on Friday, February 2, 2024.
The authorities identified the accused man as Bresford Grant, 39, a deliveryman from Lancaster Road, Kingston 10.
According to the Half Way Tree police, at about 12:40 a.m. on the day in question, the woman was at home with the suspect, with whom she had a previous relationship. He reportedly grabbed her and demanded sexual favors. The complainant reportedly refused, and he allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed her multiple times all over her body.
The police responded and assisted the complainant to the hospital, where the authorities admitted her in serious condition.
The police launched an investigation, and the accused reportedly surrendered to the Half Way Tree Police and confessed to the crime.
He was subsequently arrested and charged.
His scheduled appearance date before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court is Friday, April 26.
A St Catherine man who failed to return a rental car is charged with larceny of motor vehicle.
MANCHESTER, Jamaica – A suspect, identified as Clayton Robinson, age 45, and a construction worker from Depot Drive, Gregory Park, St Catherine, has been charged by detectives from the Mandeville Police Department with the larceny of a motor vehicle. The charges also include uttering forged documents, obtaining property through forged documents, possessing forged documents, and fraudulent use of a registration plate.
The allegations stem from Robinson’s failure to return a motor car he rented in Mandeville, Manchester, between Wednesday, December 27, 2023, and Thursday, January 18, 2024. Despite the rental agreement stipulating a return date of Wednesday, January 3, 2024, Robinson did not comply.
Following the complainant’s report to the Mandeville Police Station, an investigation was initiated, resulting in Robinson’s arrest on Sunday, February 18. Subsequently, the police recovered the motor vehicle, which was found to contain a fraudulent driver’s license bearing Robinson’s information.
Robinson was formally charged on Thursday, February 22, and appeared in the Mandeville Parish Court on Friday, February 23.
A mason who allegedly robbed a woman as she left the bank is charged with robbery.
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Half-Way Tree Police have brought charges against a suspect accused of holding a woman at gunpoint and robbing her outside a bank in Half-Way-Tree, St Andrew, on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
The accused, Shannel Duffus, aged 25 and a mason residing on Old Hope Road, Kingston 5, has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, using a firearm to commit a felony, assault at common law, and robbery with aggravation.
According to the report from the Half Way Tree police, at approximately 12:55 p.m., the victim was leaving a bank in the Corporate area when Duffus and another individual accosted her with a firearm, demanding that she surrender her belongings. He then proceeded to rob her of her handbag before fleeing the area.
Following an investigation, Duffus was arrested and formally charged on Friday, February 23, 2024, at a vehicular checkpoint on Waterloo Road in St Andrew. His court appearance date is pending.
A Westmoreland construction worker is charged with rape.
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica– A suspect in Westmoreland has been formally charged with the alleged sexual assault of a complainant at her home on December 30, 2023.
According to the authorities, the suspect is a 53-year-old construction worker from the Whitehall district, Negril, in Westmoreland.
The charges brought against him include rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and malicious destruction of property, as confirmed on Thursday.
Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) indicate that at around 5:00 a.m. on the day in question, the woman was asleep at the accused man’s residence when she was awakened by him, demanding sexual intercourse. The complainant allegedly refused, prompting the accused to use a knife to cut and remove her clothing before physically assaulting her.
Furthermore, it is reported that he restrained her and proceeded to sexually assault her.
Following the complaint made by the woman, the police apprehended the accused on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, during a targeted raid at his residence.
Subsequently, he was charged and is currently awaiting a court date.
