Police recaptured the Tamarind Farm escapee in Portland.

Nathan Witter, an inmate at Tamarind Farm Adult Correctional Centre in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, escaped on October 26, 2023. He was recaptured at a house in Port Antonio, Portland, the next morning.

Witter was serving a sentence for firearm-related offenses. The police apprehended him during a targeted raid at a house on King Street in Port Antonio. The police are conducting further investigations.

According to the Department of Correctional Service (DCS), Witter escaped from a group of 12 inmates who were working on the institution’s farm. He was seen running towards the main road, and correctional officers chased him, but he eluded them.

Witter was imprisoned for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, and he had been sentenced to four years for these offenses.

The police have not released the suspect’s identity.

According to reports, the police were responding to a domestic dispute that turned violent involving the suspect.

The police reportedly accosted the suspect, and he allegedly attacked the intervening officer while armed with a machete and a knife.

Fearing for his life, the police officer discharged his service pistol, hitting the suspect.

The police transported the suspect to Alexandria Community Hospital for treatment.

The Independent Commission of Investigations is investigating the incident.

Judge Arthur Engoron has already determined that Donald Trump exaggerated the value of his properties to obtain favorable loans. The trial concerns six other allegations, including falsifying business records, insurance fraud, and conspiracy.
