A 34-year-old Petty Officer in the US Navy is among four suspects the Police have taken into custody concerning the disappearance of the daughter of a Member of Parliament, Phillip Paulwell, and her mother.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey announced on Friday that the Police are looking to charge the petty officer with conspiracy to commit murder and kidnapping.
Paulwell’s 10-month-old daughter Sarayah and her mother, Toshyna Patterson, have been missing since September 8, 2023.
DCP Bailey said that the Police would not typically release the names of people before the Police charge them with an offense. However, in this case, the evidence’s potency is such that there is no doubt about the charges.
He said that the investigation is advanced and appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
Police killed a Licensed firearm holder during a brawl at a traffic stop.
On Thursday night, October 5, 2023, law enforcement officers shot and killed a licensed firearm holder who engaged them in an alleged altercation at a traffic stop along Old Harbor Road in St. Catherine.
The authorities identified the deceased as Inegus Hyman, 39, of Green Acres in St. Catherine.
The Police report stated that at about 8 p.m., a team of traffic cops were on duty at a traffic checkpoint along Old Harbour Road when they signaled the driver of a Honda Accord to stop.
The driver complied. When the cops asked him to exit the vehicle, he became belligerent.
He exited the vehicle in a rage, grabbed onto one of the cops, and engaged him in a brawl.
During the confrontation, Hyman pulled his licensed firearm from his waistband and opened fire at the Police.
The Police took evasive action and returned the fire, hitting Hyman.
The cops rushed Hyman to the hospital, where the authorities pronounced him dead.
The Police’s Inspectorate and Professional Standard Oversight Bureau and the Independent Commission of Investigations are investigating the incident.
