Police charged an Old Habor Bus conductor with burglary and theft.

The police detained the man who made a video of himself issuing a bomb threat at the Rubis Service Station in Ocho Rios, St. Ann, on Sunday, June 4, 2023, and posted it on TikTok.

The man, whose name the police withheld, is 25 years old. The police apprehended him in Old Harbour, St. Catherine, on Monday afternoon, June 5, 2023.

The commanding officer of the St. Catherine South Police, Senior Superintendent Christopher Phillips, said law enforcement officers arrested the accused at about 12:30 pm, Monday, June 5, 2023. Phillips said the police would hand him to the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch (C-TOC), where he would likely get charged with breaches of the Cybercrimes Act.

According to Phillips, the threat which the accused posted on social media disrupted the operation of multiple business establishments in Ocho Rios. Traffic was also affected because the police had cordoned off a section of the Town.

The police did not find a bomb.

The police had requested that the person responsible for the threat via TikTok turn themselves in at the nearest police station.

The accused told the police he was an artist and described the bomb threat as a prank for promotional purposes.
