On Saturday morning, a 37-year-old man died during a four-vehicle collision along the Great River Bridge in Hanover. And the driver of a Toyota Voxy, whom eyewitnesses said caused the accident is on the run.
The police identified the dead man as Randall Paragon-Singh, a former resident of Hopeton District, St James.
According to reports Paragon-Singh was the driver of a Honda Civic motor car that was reportedly hit by a Toyota Voxy while overtaking a Toyota Hiace traveling toward Hopewell, Hanover from Montego Bay. Paragon died at the scene, and the injured were assisted to the hospital.
The incident occurred at approximately midnight.
According to the police, Paragon-Singh was driving his Honda Civic towards Montego Bay when a Toyota Voxy traveling in the opposite direction overtook a Hiace, lost control, and collided with Paragon’s Honda Civic, which spun several times. A fourth was also involved in the accident.
The commanding officer in charge of Hanover, Senior Superintendent of Police Sharon Beeput, confirmed the incident but could not say much at the time.
A man attending a funeral in St James was shot and killed by an unknown assailant.
ST JAMES, Jamaica— Detectives in St James have launched an investigation into the shooting death of a man who was attending a funeral in Quarry, Salt Spring, St James on Saturday, April 29, 2023.
The police identified the deceased as Shamari Sterling, formerly of Fellman Salt Spring, St James.
According to preliminary reports, sometime after 12: noon Sterling was standing outside the Church where the funeral service was in progress when an armed assailant approached him and opened gunfire-hitting him multiple times.
The police assisted Sterling to the hospital, where he died. The police are yet to establish a motive for the murder.
Alleged Klansman gangster Kevon McCallum freed of gun-related charges.
On Friday, April 28, 2023, an alleged reputed member of the Klansman Gang, Kevon McCallum, was freed of firearm-related charges in the Home Circuit Court.
The Judge acquitted him after his lawyer, Donahue Martin, made a no-case submission.
McCallum was facing charges of shooting with intent at the police during a confrontation in 2020.
According to the police, McCallum is a known violence producer in St Cathrine. Before his arrest at the Oakland Apartments complex in St Andrew in 2021, his name was always on the St Cathrine North Police’s most wanted list.
He was a prime suspect in the 2019 murder of Jason Brown committed on Chins Avenue in Spanish Town, St Cathrine. And he was a person of interest in multiple crimes committed in the St Andrew North Police Division.
