The police killed alleged gang banger in a confrontation in West Kingston

According to Senior Superintendent Michael Phipps, the man the police killed in the Kingston Western division on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, during a confrontation, had been warned by the police to stay away from the area.

The police identified him as Nicholas Denton, age 19, of Race Course Lane, Kingston 14. The police shot and killed him in Wilton Gardens and seized a Browning pistol with three cartridges.

Phipps said the deceased gangbanger was well known to the police. In 2022, the police charged him with shooting with intent. He was on bail at the time of his death. And investigators requested that he steer clear of the Denham Town area.

“Earlier this year, he was found in Denham Town in clear breach of his bail conditions. He was taken back before the court, where he was readmitted to bail and was again warned not to be seen in Denham Town. However, to our surprise, he returned to the area where he confronted the police, which led to his death,” Phipps says.
