The St Cathrine police charged a man with the fatal shooting of 58-year-old June Stone of Passagefort Drive in Portmore on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at her home in Portmore, St Catherine.

According to the police, they have arrested and charged Marcus Mitchell, 26-year-old, a construction worker of George Reid District, Manchester, with murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
The Portmore Police stated that on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at about 6:40 p.m., Stone was at home when Mitchell broke into the premises and opened gunfire, hitting her in the head.
Residents in the community alerted the police. The police took Stone to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The police arrested Mitchell in January following an intensive investigation. The police subsequently charged him following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney. His court date is pending.
Murders in St. Elizabeth were Down by 50% in February.
