The Police Officers Association is concerned about the frequent attacks on members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force. It notes with grave concern that members of the Constabury are subject to attacks across several divisions.
The statement came after attacks on two police constables who have been shot and injured in separate incidents- one in Clarendon, and the other in St Andrew, Friday morning, February 24, 2023.
It characterizes the frequent attacks on police officers as an attack on the State.
Hence, the POA urges members of the JCF to remain alert and apply their training to defend themselves against those who seek to harm them.
It also appeals to all law-abiding citizens to support the police in providing a safe and secure environment.
The Police High Command echoes the sentiments of the POA. In an earlier statement, the Police High Command said it encourages its members to always exercise vigilance, especially in volatile environments.
