ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – One of four police officers implicated in the alleged robbery and sexual assault of a female motorist in Black River, St Elizabeth, on January 30, 2023, has been charged.
He is constable Alwayne Hill. Hill is charged with five offenses based on a ruling from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. They are rape, grievous sexual assault, forcible abduction, corruptly soliciting, and simple larceny.

It has been reported that at about 10:00 pm on Monday, January 30, 2023, the woman was driving along Crawford Main road in her motor car with a demonstration plate.
She was signaled to stop by a police team at a checkpoint. The woman allegedly offered the police $7,000 to avoid getting a ticket. The police demanded $50,000. The police took her to an ATM in Black River, where she attempted to the 50,000 unsuccessfully. She was instructed to drive to a nearby supermarket, where she was taken to the back and allegedly threatened and raped by Hill. Hill also used her ATM car to purchase items. The police took the four constables in custody, but the other three have since been released.
Two pistols seized, two injured following shooting in August Town
The police seized one Tarus 9mm handgun and 16 rounds of ammunition along Water Street in Kingston.
Also, the police seized two firearms and several rounds of ammunition along Bryce Hill in August Town, St Andrew following a shooting incident.
According to reports at about 9:40 pm on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, residents heard a loud explosion and summoned the police. Upon arrival the police found one man suffering from gunshot wounds. And a magazine containing thirteen 9mm rounds was found beside him.
The police effected a search of the premises and found one Taurus 9mm pistol, one Berretta 9mm pistol, and three additional 9mm cartridges were found atop a roof.
The police took the injured man to the UWI for treatment. Later another man showed up at the hospital and reported that he was injured in the same incident. Both men remained in the hospital under police guard. Detectives are investigating the incident.
Police Issue 35-Million in E-Tickets Since February
The JCF has reported that its members have issued e-tickets amounting to nearly 35 million dollars since the new Road Traffic Act took effect on February 1.

The Constabulary has revealed that for the first 6 days of February, the police issued 5,533 such tickets.
Of that amount, 401 have already been paid.
Speaking at the JCF’s recent media briefing, the Police Commissioner disclosed that the police have increased the number of e-ticket devices.
There was a 60-percent increase in traffic tickets issued last year over 2021.
