Dancehall artiste, Skillibeng received the MOBO for the Best Caribbean Music performer (act) in 2022. He collected the award via satellite during a live telecast. The event occurred in the OVO arena in London, England, on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.

In his acceptance monolog, Skillibeng said: “I represent Jamaica. I’m from a small island where it’s very hard, and I appreciate this award.” He encouraged other artists to work hard to achieve their dreams. Then he said this: “And to everybody working hard, believe in yourself, believe in your dreams. Keep doing what you do.”

Skillibeng also paid homage to his management and the fans. He knew without them; he would not have received the award.

“Big up to all my team, everybody who supported, everybody who voted,” he said.

Other nominees for the award were, Shenseea, Sean Paul, Spice, Popcaan, and Koffee. It was Skillibeng’s fourth MOBO nomination. He was also a nominee in the Best International Act category as well. The Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy from Nigeria won the award in the class.

Sillibeng came to prominence in 2019 with Brik Pon Brik, which Whap Crocodile Teeth followed Teeth. Since then, he has given us Mr. Universe, Torpedo, Coke, 50 Bag, and Bin Laden.

Skillibeng is signed to RCA.
