KINGSTON, JamaicaAccording to Judicial Scoop, the prosecution in the case against Kacey-Ann Blair, the woman accused of fatally shooting her husband, Constable Damien Blair, in May 2023, has agreed to accept a lesser plea of manslaughter.

The prosecution revealed the accused’s decision to the Court during Thursday morning’s hearing in the Home Circuit Court.

Mrs. Blair, whom the Court assessed as fit to plead, has mental health challenges. The authorities charged her with murder, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

During Thursday’s hearing, presiding judge Justice Leighton Pusey asked the prosecution about the other two charges.

The prosecution told the Court that it needed additional time to discuss the firearm and ammunition charges with Mrs. Blair’s attorneys, Tameika Harris and Gnoj McDonald.

The Court further remanded Mrs. Blair until Friday.

Police charged a Westmoreland man with cocaine trafficking offenses.

MONTEGO BAY, ST JAMES, Jamaica–Law enforcement officers assigned to the Narcotics Division charged a Westmoreland suspect with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act after he attempted to ship nearly two pounds of cocaine through a courier service based in Montego Bay, St James.

The authorities charged Andre Cooper, age 34, of Cooke Street, Savanna-la-Mar, with cocaine trafficking-related charges on Monday, November 6, 2023, following an investigation into the drug bust.

The police said that on October 27, 2023, Narcotics agents intercepted an outbound package delivered to the DHL office in Montego Bay, in St. James, destined for the United States.

The police found nearly two pounds of cocaine, with a street value of US$27,000, concealed among food items in the package.

The officers launched an investigation that led to Cooper’s arrest on Thursday, November 2, 2023, in Westmoreland.

The cops booked Cooper to appear in the St. James Parish Court on November 15, 2023.
